What are They Selling? Helping Our Kids Say “No” to Advertising
Do you ever feel helpless in the face of the massive advertising campaigns directed at your children?
I kept my personal address/phone book next to the phone in the kitchen, and then thumbed through it quickly whenever I needed a number. This system “worked” … but it was rather frustrating if someone walked off with my phone book to use it in another room, and then forgot to return it to its “home” in the kitchen.
Please keep in mind this isn’t necessarily a completely “serious” article — I have enough trouble controlling clutter in my own life without worrying about where to store my dryer lint and old egg cartons, you know? But these ideas I’m going to share really are useable for regular folk — not just those poor souls desperately seeking ways of recycling the lint balls off their favorite sweaters.

Beating the Breakfast Rush Hour
In many families, morning is a hectic and hurried time. Frequently parents feel fortunate just to get everyone out the door fully dressed each day. Serve a hot cooked breakfast every morning? Not a chance.
Several years ago, a young couple from our local church was pondering what to do about the various people they saw on street corners around town asking for food or money.
